Novera Pen began as a favor. I’d left my previous job in the fall of 2020 and was evaluating career prospects. During the interlude I took up helping a friend from my roleplaying community (Star Wars: The Old Republic). She was involved in several creative endeavors, ranging from a community starship resource to story arcs and character concepts for our various roleplay guilds. She’d bounce ideas off me, I’d give my feedback.
One day, as we were talking NPC backstories, I did some revisions on a character biography she sent me. After reading it she made a simple offhanded comment that set the wheels rolling…
The process began not long after that. We were talking freelance business with a few other friends and the idea arose that I offer my editing services to the roleplaying community. Short stories, Discord server content, resource doc revisions, even video scripts…the possibilities were limitless.
And so Novera Pen officially launched on January 18, 2021. Its goal? Providing the creative minds of the online world a means of honing their ideas. Tidying them up. Its name is drawn from my own creative efforts; the Novera Galaxy is the setting of my science fiction novels.
